Local & Community Resources

This page lists crisis, community, and support resources that may be helpful alongside your care at Mental Wellness & Relationship Services (MWRS). These organizations are separate from MWRS, and availability may change over time.

Start care with MWRS

If you need immediate help

MWRS is not a crisis center and we do not provide 24/7 monitoring. If you are in crisis or concerned about someone’s immediate safety, please use one of the options below or call 911.

Crisis support

  • 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline – Call or text 988, or chat via 988lifeline.org for 24/7 support.
  • 911 – For medical or safety emergencies, or if someone is in immediate danger.
  • Local emergency room – If you are concerned about serious self-harm, risk to others, or rapid changes in mood, going to the nearest ER can be the safest option.

North Idaho area resources

These resources are provided as a starting point and are not exhaustive. Always check each organization’s website or call ahead to confirm services, hours, and eligibility.

General medical & hospital care

  • Local hospital emergency departments for urgent medical or mental health needs.
  • Primary care clinics and family medicine providers for medical follow-up, physical health concerns, and medication questions outside MWRS.

Community & counseling supports

  • Community mental health centers and non-profit counseling agencies that may offer low-cost or grant-funded services.
  • School-based counseling resources for children and teens, available through local school districts.
  • Faith communities, support groups, and local organizations that provide peer support, groups, or practical help during difficult seasons.

Support for families & caregivers

  • Parenting classes, family support programs, and therapeutic groups offered through community agencies, schools, or nonprofits.
  • Caregiver and family support groups for those supporting loved ones with mental health or medical conditions.

Statewide & online resources

For some clients, online or statewide resources can supplement local care, especially in rural communities or between appointments.

Statewide supports

  • Idaho-based hotlines, warm lines, and support services that offer phone or online support outside of regular office hours.
  • State and county websites for information on housing, food assistance, transportation, and other basic needs.

Online tools & education

  • Reputable mental health education sites that provide information about conditions, coping skills, and treatment options.
  • Skill-building apps (for mood tracking, mindfulness, or habit support) that can complement, but not replace, counseling or medical care.

Your MWRS provider can help you sort through which resources make sense for your specific situation and how to use them alongside your care.
